Australian Bureau of Statistics data shows net overseas migration added approximately 311,000 people to Australia’s population in the year to September 2025, accounting for around three-quarters of total growth of approximately 423,600 people. This represents a net inflow of more than 850 people per day and remains above pre-COVID levels, despite easing from the post-pandemic peak, with overseas arrivals still significantly exceeding departures over the period.
